    Основана в 1920 группой левых профсоюзных деятелей во главе с У. Фостером [ Foster, William Zebulon]. Выступала в поддержку производственных профсоюзов [ industrial union], за создание левой фермерско-рабочей партии. Представляла интересы т.н. Красного интернационала профсоюзов (Профинтерна) в США. После того, как лидеры АФТ [ AFL] заявили о том, что организация является прикрытием [front] для коммунистов, Фостер фактически утратил вес в профсоюзном движении и был вынужден признать свои связи с компартией, которые до этого скрывал. В 1929 организация преобразована в Лигу профсоюзного единства [ Trade Union Unity League].
