    Негоцианты, бизнесмены, филантропы Изидор Строс (1845-1912) [Straus, Isidor] и Нейтан Строс (1848-1931) [Straus, Nathan]. В 1888 братья были партнерами торговой фирмы "Мейси" [ Macy's], владевшей универмагом в г. Нью-Йорке, а к 1896 стали ее единственными владельцами, превратив вскоре универмаг в крупнейший в мире. Попутно основали универмаг "Эйбрахам энд Строс" [Abraham and Straus department store (department store)]. Изидор занимался политикой в г. Нью-Йорке и на федеральном уровне, в 1912 погиб вместе с женой на "Титанике". Натан до 1914 руководил делами в "Мейси". Занимался также филантропией: начиная с 1892 возглавил в Нью-Йорке и по всей стране кампанию за пастеризацию молока, внеся тем самым свой вклад в заметное снижение детской смертности в стране. В 1923 был отмечен как гражданин города Нью-Йорка, который в наибольшей степени способствовал его процветанию за предшествующие 25 лет.
